About the Artist: Ellen was born in New York City and grew up outside of Rochester, NY and recieved her BA from the University of  Vermont in 1984. She studied Chinese in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Middlebury College, and finished her degree with a MA in Chinese history from the University of Vermont in 1988.After moving to Boston, she became a graphic designer.

Ellen says about her work;"As an antidote to the constraints of my computer-intensive graphic design career, I began painting. As time went on I became integrated with painting. I beleive that a beautiful painting is both a gift of vision and a testament of appreciation for our short lives on this beautiful Earth."
